Fine Furniture For A Furry Friend

We’re all dog lovers here at Martin & Calloway, so entering Faithful Friends Animal Society’s “Barkitecture” dog and cat house competition was an easy decision. What better way could there be to use our skills to help animals in desperate need? We got busy on The PawPort, an indoor pet “house” that would double as an elegant side table. We envisioned a piece of furniture to create a cozy space for a pet while providing the winning bidder a gorgeous display for their living room. In the end, the PawPort drew the second highest auction bid of the evening at Barkitecture. It also took 2nd Place in voting for its category! Better yet, Martin & Calloway raised over $1,000 for Faithful Friends and the many homeless animals they work to rescue.

A Woodworker’s Dream!

It was quite a process to create this one-of-a-kind piece of pet furniture! The project brought to bear many advanced woodworking skills, from the custom “doggy bone” inlays on the table surface to the laminated, bent wood arch for the entrance. The paw print windows and open ventilation below the raised table top offer Fido an airy spot with natural light. Two small LED lighting fixtures add supplemental light so he can find his cozy place at night! Check out the photos below to see how we brought the PawPort to life for Barkitecture.
